TAP LAB Mural

In 2024 I was commissioned to create a new mural for the entrance to TAP LAB, a technology-friendly Makerspace located upstairs in the Te Atatū Peninsula Community Centre, Auckland.

The Project

TAP LAB fosters a community of diverse, creative and talented makers. Encompassing everything this community space offers made this one of the more creatively challenging projects I have worked on.

The team came up with a list of ideas, icons, objects and themes that were important to them and I merged them all into a mural that begins at the bottom of the stairwell and moves upstairs to the lab entrance. I also made use of some of the tech available at TAP LAB to incorporate lazercut elements and vinyl lettering into the mural.

One of the most amazing things about working with TAP LAB and the Te Atatū Community Centre is how accomodating and accepting they are of my life as a working/studying/single mother. I could fit the work in around my life and bring Arlo along if I needed. He loves helping me out but also loved checking out what was going on at TAP LAB and playing with their giant lego box!
