Inspired by @taraleaver and her #21daysinmyartworld challenge I decided to share a bit more about what goes on daily in my art world for 21 days in February. It was a great challenge, it really helped me be more consistent with sharing my work and process, it gave me more confidence to show up on video and put myself in front of the camera. I also had some great interactions and feedback from people on Instagram and Facebook. Plus there were two lockdowns, so that made things a bit more full on, looks like 2021 is going to be a rollercoaster too. This challenge emphasised just how important creating is for me, how much it centers me, calms me and brings me a huge amount of joy.
Day 2
Day 2 of #21daysinmyartworld
I spent the morning playing in my sketchbook and working on some small studies. I experimented with some different colour palettes & marks, working quickly and just trusting the process.
This arvo I’m in front of the computer doing some business admin and business planning - the not so fun but very essential part of running a creative business
Day 5
Day 5 of #21daysinmyartworld
Today is an Arlo day ☺️ No creating today but thought I’d flip through my sketchbook from the last week
Day 15
Day 15 of #21daysinmyartworld
Creativity & motherhood, two things that often feel at odds with each other but for me are completely intertwined. Monday’s are #mumlife days. Today had some pretty big toddler emotions 🥴 but we also had a great play date with another amazing creative business owner and her kid. Connecting with creative mothers is everything for me, it reminds you that you aren’t alone in this crazy journey 🙏🏻
I sometimes feel motherhood holds me back from reaching my goals yet at the same time everything I’m doing and my entire motivation for it is because of this kid. It’s one hell of a balancing act!
This is a little behind the scenes of a piece I created for Arlo’s bedroom 😊
